Thousands of Labors Ready to Cast Their Aspiration on May Day

Thousands of workers have started to gather at the HI Roundabout and began to stage a long march towards the presidential palace, Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Friday (5/1).

In the palace, the labors will be giving speeches until 1 PM

Most come using bus and motorcycle that parked along Jalan MH Thamrin. They will join with other labors to stage a long march while bringing banners and yelling their aspiration.

May Day, Transjakarta Operate Normally

Before arriving in the palace, they would hold Jumat pray around Monas. As for the rest labors go to the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK).

“In the palace, the labors will be giving speeches until 1 PM. Before that, they have to do Jumat pray first. Afterwards, around 25 thousand labors will go to the GBK,” said City Police Chief, Insp. Pol. Unggung Cahyono, Friday (5/1).

They had prepared several demands, such as refusing wage increase once two years, demanding health and pension guarantee, outsourcing, rejecting free market, as well as subsidized fuel and gas hike.

On the other hand, thousands of police officers already on standby in HI Roundabout vicinity. Even, some operational cars have also been prepared in the field, such as Water Cannon and Barracuda.
